Hungary signs cooperation agreement with international student organisation
Budapest, July 31 (MTI) – The human resources ministry on Friday signed a cooperation agreement with the Hungarian branch of IAESTE, an international student organisation involved in organising technical work experience abroad.
The government will launch the Campus Mundi programme aimed at supporting Hungarian students pursuing part-time studies abroad, higher education state secretary Laszlo Palkovics said, after signing the document with the International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience. The government will spend 9.2 billion forints (EUR 29.9m) on the programme, he said.
He said 7.8 percent of students studying at Hungarian universities were international students, a share which the government intends to increase. Palkovics said the government also aims to provide more opportunities for Hungarian students to study abroad.
The state secretary said it was important that university students aquire knowledge they can use worldwide and obtain internationally competitive degrees.
Balazs Cseri, the head of IAESTE Hungary, said the organisation’s programmes provide students with work experience and knowledge while allowing them to build their networks both in Hungary and abroad.
IAESTE Hungary was established in 1990 and has helped over 3,500 Hungarian students gain work experience abroad. IAESTE was founded in 1948 and is present in 85 countries, Bernard Beyens, the organisation’s president said.
