Varga advocates comprehensive refurbishment of St John’s Hospital
Budapest, August 3 (MTI) – Budapest’s St John’s (Szent Janos) Hospital will need to be thoroughly reconstructed even if a planned new healthcare complex is not built in its vicinity, economy minister Mihaly Varga said on Monday.
Varga, who is the parliamentary representative of Budapest’s 12th district, noted that next year’s budget will ensure one billion forints for construction of the new hospital. He also signed a petition launched by civil organisations, to support plans that the new facility should be built next to St John’s.
Plans to build a new “superhospital” for Budapest were raised by the ruling Fidesz party in February.
