Hungary CPI rises to 3.8 pc in October
Consumer prices in Hungary rose by an annual 3.8 percent in October, accelerating from a 3.6 percent increase in the previous month, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said on Thursday.
KSH attributed the increase to higher vehicle fuel and tobacco prices.
Prices in the category of goods which include vehicle fuel rose by 7.8 percent, lifted by a 16.2 percent jump in fuel prices, while tobacco and spirits prices were up 5.1 percent, raised by a 7.3 percent increase in tobacco prices.
Food prices increased by 4.6 percent, household energy prices rose by 1.3 percent, consumer durable prices edged up by 0.2 percent and service prices climbed 1.9 percent.
Seasonally-adjusted core inflation, which excludes volatile fuel and food prices, was 2.6 percent.
In a month-on-month comparison, CPI was 0.5 percent. For the period January-October, consumer prices were up by an annual 2.8 percent.
Industrial output drops 0.6 pc in September
Hungary’s industrial output edged down by an annual 0.6 percent in September due to more workdays in the base period, the Central Statistical Office said in a first reading of data on Thursday.
Adjusted for the number of workdays, output increased by 2.2 percent.
For the period January-September, output rose by an annual 3.1 percent.
In a month-on-month comparison, output declined by a seasonally and workday adjusted 2.1 percent.
