Hungary makes laws to control the massive amount of immigration

Setting up transit zones, introducing the concept of crisis caused by mass immigration, military deployment and the modification of the criminal code (Btk.) – among others, these are the changes Hungary intends to make in order to control the massive amount of immigrants pouring into the country, says nol.hu. The package of proposal – which contains 13 amendments – was submitted by the Fidesz-KDNP coalition.

A crisis caused by mass immigration means that the concerned areas can be declared as a crisis area up to 6 months; the status can later be extended. During such a situation movable and immovable properties possessed by the government or the local government could be used to handle the crisis.

Several transit zones would be set up near the areas which are greatly affected by mass immigration. These zones would serve as homes for the immigrants until the asylum procedure is over. This would require not only the modification of the asylum act but the civil litigation as well. The office of immigration would be required to make a decision regarding any asylum petitions out of turn within 8 days.
