Tailback at Hegyeshalom, migrants approach border on foot
Budapest, September 5 (MTI) – An 11km tailback has emerged on the Budapest-Vienna motorway at the border crossing of Hegyeshalom on Saturday morning, an MTI correspondent reported from the site.
Waiting vehicles were turned back and rerouted towards the border crossing points at Rajka on the Slovakian border and Sopron on the Austrian border.
The Austrian authorities closed lanes in the direction of Vienna in the early hours of Saturday to guarantee the safety of migrants crossing the border on foot. The long line of vehicles includes 30 to 40 buses with migrants on board. Migrants got off several buses and reached the border on foot.
