Food Truck Overload – A Glimpse into the Show
A food truck is basically a buffet vehicle, a rolling street food restaurant. It is the newest wave of the street food culture, which went through big development in the last two years. These trucks are popular all around the world but they haven’t been legalized in Hungary yet. The organizers are hoping that they will become general in the near future. More than 2.5 billion people eat from food trucks per day. This is a shocking number.
Why are they so popular? Well, these trucks are very eye-catching with their vibrant colours. The workers are very kind and they sell their own products, which are many times handmade. The prices are reasonable and on the cheaper side. They all look different and everyone could find something of their taste last weekend, at the Food Truck Show held in Kincsem Park.
Alongside the food trucks, there were horse and greyhound races with the best racers from Middle-Europe. Some of the races went down later at night. Visitors could bet for their favourites so it really was like the traditional horse races. There were regular betters cheering anxiously for their favourites, and there were people experiencing this habit and environment for the first time. I must admit, it has a special feel to it. You feel like you have travelled back in time when horse racing was the most common way of entertainment. And this travelling back in time connects with the style of the food trucks because they are mostly vintage. This concept united these two different events into one.
At the end of the night there was a special performance by a brass band, which made most people sing and dance. It really completed the experience.
Festivals like this show how quickly innovations spread all around the world. Creativity is always admired. I’m sure there’s going to be more Food Truck Shows in the future. If yes, go and check this joyful phenomenon out!
