Street gets the name Budapest in Ankara
Ankara, September 11 (MTI) – A street was named after Budapest in Ankara at a ceremony held in the Turkish capital on Friday.
Speaking at the event, Budapest Mayor Istvan Tarlos said the street will further deepen the bond between the Turkish and Hungarian nations and strengthen cooperation between the two capital cities.
Ibrahim Melih Gokcek, the mayor of Ankara, said the move will promote mutual understanding.
The street is located in Ankara’s affluent Cukurambar district, a few kilometres off the city centre, in the vicinity of some prestigious universities.
Melih Gokcek expressed hope that a Budapest street would be named after Ankara next year.
