Owners of Szabad Bisztro say that it is necessary to open vegan bars and restaurants in Budapest and it is also essential for the world to take up the vegan lifestyle because the meat industry and dairy are some of the most significant contributors to the environment’s pollution.
Besides nutritional and diet reasons, a lot of people switch to a vegan lifestyle because of ethical reasons. Being ethical also inspired the restaurant to try minimising their waste, as well. They do not use plastic straws, there is no takeaway (with plastic bags), only if you have your own food box or mug with you.
The selectively gathered wastes are carried to selective-waste stations by cargo bikes, and the bistro is planning on contracting with someone who recycles their waste.
Further plans include vegan cookies and cakes and fruits according to the current season. Szabad Bisztro is also planning on home delivery service, but they have to find the proper materials for packaging yet.
Address: Király Street 101., Budapest 1077
