The diary of a 13 years old Hungarian Jewish girl who died in Auschwitz is presented on Instagram
They introduce the diary of a Hungarian Jewish girl, Éva Heyman who died in Auschwitz at the age of 13 – writes the MTI.
By using Instagram, they are trying to bring thetragedy closer for the younger generations. The story of Éva is being advertised on billboards for a week now, and they even made an introducing trailer, which has already more than 20,000 views.
From last Wednesday on multiple video messages published, featuring professional actors; these show what happened to Éva in Hungary in 1944: discriminatory measures, being forced into the ghetto, as far as being loaded to the train and headed to Auschwitz.
Éva Heyman was writing her diary for 3 and a half months up until her deportation in May of 1944. Her mother survived the war. She found the diary and published it as a book more than 50 years ago, which sank into oblivion since. Now, this Israeli project presents the diary in a new form.
The millionaire owner of an Israeli IT company, Mati Kochávi funded the project, which is available at @eva.stories on Instagram after the eve of Yom HaShoah. The page has more than 1.6 million followers already.
The videos are produced by a team of 400 people in Lviv, Ukraine. Dozens of Israeli social media influencers and other local celebrities were asked to promote the page. Prime Minister Benjámin Netanjahu draw attention to the project in his Tweet.
The adaptation of the diary through Instagram is polarising people in Israel. Some think that the fictional Instagram page of the murdered girl is disrespectful towards her memory. While others argue that it is not the platform, but the manner and the quality that matter when reviving the memory of Éva Heyman.
