Three new airline routes are licensed between China and Budapest

Licence was issued by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) to launch three new airline routes between China and Budapest.

According to the Twitter post of the Airline Route, the permission includes:

• China Eastern Airline between Xi’an – Budapest three times a week;
• Hainan Airlines between Chongqing – Budapest two times a week;
• Hainan Airlines for Shenzhen – Xi’an – Budapest route two times on a weekly basis.

Concerning the aircraft-types, the starting date and the schedule of the flights, details have not been revealed yet.

Within the framework of the Bilateral Aviation Safety Agreement (BASA), cooperation with Hungarian authorities will be the second important step. However, according to the explanation provided by AIRportal.hu, this procedure is a formality from Hungary’s point of view since there is no Hungarian airline whose rights would be breached by this initiative.

Additionally, it provides several benefits to the country from economic and touristic aspects as well.

Presumably, Hainan Airlines will return to Hungary this summer, 7 years after its secession due to the bankruptcy of the MALÉV Hungarian Airlines in 2012. In addition to this, the subsidiary company of China Eastern, Shanghai Airlines will also provide flights between Shanghai and Budapest starting from June.
