Budapest (MTI) – The Socialist Party has sent a letter to President Janos Ader and Marcel Szabo, the deputy ombudsman in charge of sustainable development, asking them to challenge the government’s sales of state land.
If the president values climate protection he should also value land, Socialist deputy leader Zoltan Gogos and board member Karoly Beke said in a statement.
The Socialists have asked Ader to speak out for the preservation of state land. They have asked the deputy ombudsman for future generations (sustainable development) to address Monday’s parliamentary debate on the scheme.
Gogos and Beke reiterated that the Socialists deem the sale of state land, “Hungary’s most valuable asset”, as “unacceptable”.
They said keeping lands in state ownership was the only way to ensure Hungary’s food safety and quality agricultural production.
