Budapest voted 2nd best city by US internet audience

Budapest, October 24 (MTI) – Budapest is the second best city in the world, according to a web-based survey organised by Conde Nast Traveller.

Citing the survey, Magyar Turizmus said in a statement on Saturday that 86,000 votes went to the Hungarian capital, just short of the number of votes for Florence, which topped the list of 25 cities. Budapest however came out ahead of Vienna in the survey.

Budapest has never received quite so many accolades as in the recent past, Peter Farago, Magyar Turizmus’s chief executive, said. Budapest beat such luminaries as Sydney, Tokyo, London and Paris in the survey.

The magazine praised Budapest for its secessionist architecture, and readers noted the city’s famous thermals baths as well as the opulent New York cafe, the night-time view of Chain Bridge and its surroundings, and the Grand Market.
