The National Center for Public Health (OKK) classified the air in Budapest and six other Hungarian cities unhealthy to breathe due to high concentrations of dust, vs.hu wrote.
Air in Budapest, Vac, Szolnok, Kazincbarcika, Sajoszentpeter, Miskolc and Nyiregyhaza is unhealthy, with a concentration of 75-100 micrograms of floating dust per cubic meter, according to OKK data.
OKK evaluates and indexes air pollution levels. Its chart, based on adverse health effects, distinguishes four levels: blue (acceptable), green (challenged), orange (unhealthy), red (dangerous).
Ajka, Dunaujvaros, Szazhalombatta, Szeged, Salgotarjan and Debrecen are marked with ‘green,’ indicating challenged air quality.
The National Public Health and Medical Officer Service (ANTSZ) warned of the dangers of high floating dust concentration on Monday. ANTSZ recommends that people suffering from circulatory and respiratory diseases in the affected regions spend less time outdoors and avoid outdoor exercises.
In ‘orange’ coded areas, ANTSZ said healthy people should also avoid extended physical work or exercise in the open, and should protect children from strenuous outdoor activity.
