World Science Forum in Budapest – The forum participants adopt closing document
Budapest (MTI) – Participants in the World Science Forum in Budapest adopted a closing statement of the conference on Saturday.
According to the document, published on the website of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, participants summed up recommendations to policy makers and the scientific community with special regard to new ways of sustainable development, an agreement concerning climate change, reducing the risks of disasters, and support for developing countries.
Authors of the document voiced support for a key climate summit to begin in Paris at the end of the month, and urged participants to seek the broadest possible and most efficient cooperation. They noted that the rate of global warming cannot be kept below the desired 2 degrees Celsius without a global effort and political decisions based on scientific results.
The World Science Forum (WSF) was held between Nov. 4 and 7, bringing together representatives of over 100 countries.
