Government to set up terrorism coordination committee
Budapest, November 18 (MTI) – The government is setting up a coordination committee for counter-terrorism and preventive measures under the supervision of the Counter-Terrorism Centre (TEK), government spokesman Zoltan Kovacs said on Wednesday.
The committee’s members will be representatives of all affected services including relevant institutions, Kovacs told a press conference after a cabinet session. “The work will be of an operative, preventive nature,” he said, adding that more details will be available at Thursday’s regular government press conference. The decision will be published in the form of a government decree, he said.
Gyorgy Bakondi, the prime minister’s chief internal security advisor, said on Saturday, that the Hungarian authorities have decided to tighten security measures in the light of the Paris terror attacks. He said there was legal work under way to introduce a new set of security measures in connection with terror alerts.
