PM Fico Plays Anti-Hungarian Card In The Slovak Election Campaign

Prime Minister Robert Fico made an entrance to the election campaign in Nagyszombat County (Trnavský kraj). Once at it, he immediately slapped the Hungarian card to the table with a loud clack on this week.

Tibor Mikuš, the president of the County and József Berényi, the president of MKP made it to the second round of the elections in Nagyszombat County. The origin Hungarian József Berényi is supported by MKP, Híd and OKS, while Tibor Mikuš, who is an independent candidate, is endorsed by Smer (Direction – Social Democracy Party) and some small parties.

Fico attended an election rally to support Tibor Mikuš, a Smer party candidate in Nagyszombat (Trnava). He said that people should come to vote for their own candidate to head the county, because we lived in Slovakia. “If you don’t come, others will” – he added. He did reject, however, that he was playing the Hungarian card.
