Budapest public transport to pilot e-tickets from December
Budapest, November 27 (MTI) – The gradual introduction of electronic ticketing starts in December this year with over 1,500 employees of the Budapest transport centre (BKK) to receive an electronic card at the start of the month, business daily Vilaggazdasag said.
People over 65 will receive e-tickets next, to be followed by annual pass holders and Budapest pass holders. The e-tickets equipped with a chip will become available to all passengers in 2017, the paper added.
All metro and suburban railway services will be linked to the system by the end of 2017.
