Hungarian foreign minister to visit South America
State Secretary for Foreign Affairs and External Economic Relations Péter Szijjártó is paying a three-day visit to South America this week. Mr. Szijjártó will hold negotiations in Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina.
Press chief Éva Varga informed the public on Tuesday that Péter Szijjártó will hold a lecture at the World Science Forum in Brazil and will meet the President of the Chamber of Deputies. He will also hold talks with Eduardo Vieira, President of the State of Rio de Janeiro’s Federation of Industries, and Marco Antonio Raupp, Minister of Science and Technology.
The following day, the State Secretary will hold talks with Uruguayan public officials including the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Chief Advisor to the Minister of Economy and the Deputy Minister for Education. On the third day of his visit, Péter Szijjártó will travel to Argentina where he will negotiate with several high-level representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Argentina and the State Secretary for Higher Education.
He will subsequently open the central event of the Hungarian Visegrad 4 presidency. Szijjártó’s press chief said, the aim of the visit is to strengthen economic ties with Latin-American countries. To this end, the signing of cooperation agreements within the fields of the economy and education is expected.
