Breaking: Incoming PM Magyar announced last 2 ministers, government lineup finalised

The line-up of the incoming Tisza government was finalised on Thursday with the announcement of the interior and justice ministers. Péter Magyar, leader of the Tisza Party and prime minister-elect, announced on Facebook that Gábor Pósfai, the party’s operational leader, will head the Ministry of the Interior, which oversees law enforcement and sport, while Márton Melléthei-Barna, the party’s legal leader, will serve as Minister of Justice.

Following the inaugural meeting on 20 April of the Tisza Party’s parliamentary group, Magyar announced that his government would have 16 ministries and, on that day, named seven ministers:

1. Anita Orbán (Tisza Party foreign policy expert) – Minister of Foreign Affairs
2. András Kármán (Tisza Party budget and tax policy expert) – Minister of Finance
3. István Kapitány (Tisza Party economic and energy development expert) – Minister of Economic and Energy Affairs
4. Zsolt Hegedűs (Tisza Party health policy expert) – Minister of Health
5. László Gajdos (Director of Nyíregyháza Zoo, MP for Nyíregyháza, Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County Constituency 1) – Minister for the Living Environment
6. Romulusz Ruszin-Szendi (Former Chief of the General Staff, Tisza Party expert, MP for Hajdúszoboszló, Hajdú-Bihar County Constituency 5) – Minister of Defence
7. Szabolcs Bóna (Agricultural engineer, Tisza Party agricultural expert) – Minister of Agriculture and Food Economy

Then, on 22 April, Magyar announced:

1. Bálint Ruff (Political analyst) – Head of the Prime Minister’s Office
2. Viktória Lőrincz (MP for Kaposvár) – Minister for Regional and Rural Development

Two days later, additional ministers were named:

1. Dávid Vitézy (Current Budapest councillor) – Minister of Transport and Infrastructure
2. Vilmos Kátai-Németh (Visually impaired MP for Csepel) – Minister of Social and Family Affairs
3. Judit Lannert (Education expert) – Minister for Children and Education

On 28 April, Magyar announced:

1. Zoltán Tarr (Tisza Party vice president and EP delegation leader, MP for Budapest Constituency 16) – Minister for Social Relations and Culture
2. Zoltán Tanács (Leader responsible for the Tisza Party’s Functional and Humane Hungary programme, future Budapest MP) – Minister of Science and Technology

Meanwhile, one government commissioner has already been confirmed:

1. Kriszta Bódis (MP for Jozsefvaros, Budapest Constituency 2) – Commissioner for Social Policy Strategy and Sector Coordination

Inaugural session of parliament to be held in days

President Tamás Sulyok tasked Péter Magyar with forming a government on 15 April. The inaugural session of parliament will be held on 9 May, when Magyar will be elected and sworn in as prime minister. The National Assembly is expected to begin debating the bill on the list of ministries.

In the days following the inaugural session, parliamentary committees will hear the ministerial candidates. Under the Fundamental Law, ministers are appointed by the president on the prime minister’s recommendation, and the new government is formed upon their appointment.

In the 12 April parliamentary elections, the Tisza Party won 141 seats, Fidesz-KDNP 52, and Our Homeland 6.
