Budapest hosts Hungary-Macedonia business forum

Budapest, December 16 (MTI) – There are yet untapped reserves in Hungarian-Macedonian economic cooperation but all legal conditions are in place for boosting it, Petra Pana, deputy state secretary at the foreign ministry, said.

Addressing a Hungarian-Macedonian business forum in Budapest, she said that Macedonia’s economic climate kept improving, noting that the government had introduced preferential tax rates. Pana encouraged Hungarian businesses to invest in Macedonian privatisation projects.

Pana noted that it was in Skopje that Hungary opened its first trading house in the Western Balkans region.

Citing Macedonian figures, she said that Hungary had been the fifth biggest foreign investor in Macedonia last year.

The two countries’ mixed economic committee is scheduled to hold its third session on Thursday and Friday.

Prior to it, Hungarian and Macedonian experts have discussed cooperation opportunities in business development, energy, agriculture, transport, construction, infrastructure, environmental protection, water management, education, culture, science, tourism and health industry.
