According to alfahir.hu, most people buy books and toys for Christmas: nearly 50% of the turnover of these shops are generated in December period – Secretary-General of the National Retail Federation (OKSZ) said on M1 channel on Thursday.
Gyorgy Vamos added that in addition to these, electrical goods, clothing and perfumes have also been largely consumed; some traders expect a double-digit increase of their December turnover compared to the previous year.
According to the Secretary-General, the volume of retail sales significantly rises this year, retail trade has been expanding for three years. Last year, sales increased by more than 6%.
He noted that food sales can increase by 3-4% in December compared to last year, which is slower than the average. The online retail sales, however, expanded by about 30% on average, as a result of the growing up of the generation who were socialized on the Internet.
Gyorgy Vamos reminded that stores can be open until 12:00 on Thursday, but shops smaller than 200sq m can operate even in the closing periods. He believed that, since commerce goes well, shops have fewer discounts, because they are not reliant upon it.
