Austria reports first two coronavirus cases

There are two confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus in Austria, the first in the country, the federal Ministry of Health said on Tuesday.

Two persons, both 24 years old, have tested positive for the coronavirus in the western state of Tyrol,

Governor Guenther Platter said.

The two, living in Innsbruck, had contacted the control center themselves and described their symptoms. They suffer from fever but their condition is not life-threatening, according to the governor.

They are now isolated in an Innsbruck clinic, he said, adding that the local authority would set up its own outpatient clinic for suspected coronavirus cases in the Innsbruck clinic.

In addition to a contact point at the clinic, the state’s homepage also provides information on the virus. A separate hotline for Tyrol has been set up, which the population can contact with questions. The district hospitals are available for clarification, as are resident doctors.
