Operative board proposes Hungarian government to order state of emergency
Hungary’s operative board responsible for coordinating the response to the new coronavirus outbreak is proposing that the Hungarian government order a state of emergency, Gergely Gulyás, the head of the Prime Minister’s Office, said on Wednesday.
Gulyás said that
the government is also considering a proposal to close the borders to non-Hungarian citizens arriving from Italy, with the proviso that anyone arriving would be instantly quarantined.
The operative board has also recommended banning indoor events of more than 100 people. Also, the state of emergency will allow the authorities to order people to self-isolate in their homes, he added.
He said the government will discuss the proposals at its meeting this morning.
