Uber customers up eightfold in Budapest
Budapest, January 14 (MTI) – The number of customers using car dispatcher Uber’s services in Budapest has gone up eightfold over the past 12 months to reach 80,000, the company said on Thursday.
Uber increased the number of its drivers to 1,200 by the end of 2015 from 200 in the beginning of the year, the company told MTI.
Most of the customers are residents of Budapest who use Uber most regularly between 6am and 11am on workdays, the company said, adding that it also serves a large number of foreign customers.
Traffic at Uber peaks regularly on the weekend, between 7pm and 1am on both Friday and Saturday.
The average waiting time for the driver to arrive was 4 minutes and 40 seconds in December and only 4 minutes this month, compared with around 7 minutes at the beginning of 2015.
