Orban discusses cooperation, Paks expansion with GE vice chair
Budapest, January 20 (MTI) – The development of worker training and the expansion of the Paks nuclear power station were discussed at a meeting between Prime Minister Viktor Orban and General Electric (GE) vice chairman John G Rice in the Parliament on Wednesday, the head of the prime minister’s press office said.
The meeting was also attended by government office chief Janos Lazar and Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto, Bertalan Havasi said. The sides agreed to start regional cooperation in higher education and industry in order to ensure quality training for Hungarian employees, he added.
Concerning the planned capacity expansion of the Paks nuclear power station, Havasi quoted Rice as saying that GE is interested and motivated to get involved. Orban and Rice expressed hope that American-Russian professional cooperation would be developed in the project.
The sides noted that GE is the third largest exporter in Hungary and employs 11,000 people, continually developing its capacities.
