Hungarian players on the move with Euros in mind

According to the Hungarian Football Federation several members of Hungary’s national team have signed for new clubs this transfer window as they seek to cement places in head coach Bernd Storck’s final squad for this summer’s European Championships in France.

Mr Storck has already stated in several interviews that he would like members of the full national squad to receive suitable amounts of playing opportunities at club level during the spring. That means for some that moving to a new club in the January transfer window has to be a primary aim. Recently, several squad members have already used the open transfer window to move to new teams where they will certainly receive more opportunities to play in the coming months and develop their careers.

Among the first to move were two of Germany’s Hungarian contingent, Ádám Szalai and Zoltán Stieber, the former of whom remains in the top tier having now gone on-loan to relegation-threatened Hannover 96 and the latter of whom will temporarily ply his trade for promotion-chasing Nürnberg in the German second division, again as part of a loan deal.

The mlsz.hu said, Ákos Elek is another player upping sticks, this time from distant China to the relative familiarity of Diosgyőri VTK in the top division of his homeland. There is a slight delay in the completion of the paperwork for this deal but Elek has been training with Sándor Egervári’s team for some time now and it is effectively a done deal.

One player moving from Hungary to Germany is László Kleinheisler, who only made his debut for the national team last autumn. The 21 year-old, who scored that vital goal away in Norway in November’s Euro play-off, has signed for 16th placed Werder Bremen.

Another one moving abroad is Ádám Gyurcsó, the 13-times-capped winger signing for Pogón Szczecin in Poland having being called up to national-team training sessions before Christmas for the first time under Bernd Storck’s stewardship of the full national team.

According to mlsz.hu, two of his training mates in those pre-Christmas get-togethers at Telki were young Debrecen striker Norbert Balogh, who has since then agreed to move to Italian Serie A club Palermo, and Gyula Forró who has made the domestic switch from Újpest FC to Puskás Akadémia.
