This is how you can now travel to Hungary by plane – a woman shared her experiences

Bernadett Nothof-Bako travelled from London to Budapest and shared her experiences on social media. All in all, the flight was not more tiring than before, but the queue packed with people waiting to be put into quarantine was very long. Details below.

Ms Nothof-Bako came to Budapest on a regular flight with Wizz Air from London (Luton) to Hungary, Szeretlek Magyarorszag reported. She wrote that all the shops were closed at Luton airport except for Boots, but it closed before they arrived at the airport at probably 6 pm. Therefore, they could buy food, drinks, or water only from a vending machine. Onboard the plane,

they could buy only snacks and soup.

All ATMs were out of order, so everybody who would like to withdraw money before their flight should do that before arriving at Luton airport. Meanwhile, security and luggage check went quickly, and the flight was pleasant; there were not many passengers on board.

Wearing a face mask was obligatory during the flight, which left in time and landed 25 minutes earlier than scheduled. However, the procedure during which authorities put them into quarantine unfortunately lasted for a very long time. They waited for two hours since they were the last ones in the queue, but authorities worked very slowly, they believe. The authorities measure body temperature and ask for your identity card, residence card, phone number, e-mail address, and you have to choose where to be during the quarantine. Afterwards,

they give a red paper and an informative handout about the quarantine.

Those who had immunity had to stand in a separate queue, and they finished the procedure earlier. Furthermore, those with children were allowed to go to the start of the queue. Interestingly, they arrived home at 4 am, but at 9.30 they were already called by the police for data reconciliation.

Ms Nothof-Bako wrote that during the phone call, the Hungarian woman was very nice and asked again for her identity card and e-mail address where they would send the ruling. She asked whether they wanted to use the app

working only with a Hungarian phone number

or whether they wanted to be checked by an officer. Moreover, she asked whether they have somebody to help because if they do not, the local government can send somebody to do their shopping.
