Coronavirus – Italy and Austria interested in Hungarian COVID-19 therapy
Hungarians reached a real breakthrough with their blood plasma therapy to treat COVID-19. Infected people are continuously recovering after receiving the treatment, now Italy and Austria seem to both be hopeful and interested in the treatment.
Researchers and professionals do not have any time to waste, as they hypothesise that the antibodies disappeared from the infected organisms after a certain amount of time, according to the Bors. Several Hungarian research groups are working on the vaccine and treatments. The blood plasma therapy has definitely been a success for them.
“There are four people receiving plasma therapy at the moment, and a patient has already completed it. They are no longer in the ICU, but in the infectious unit and will be let home soon,” Doctor István Vályi-Nagy, the Chief Physician of the Souther Pest Central Hospital, announced on Sunday.
Other hospitals and institutions have also joined their research. The manager of OrthoSera Kft, another leader in the plasma therapy field, Professor Doctor Zsombor Lacza, revealed to Bors that the blood plasma treatment is excellent because it is effective immediately.
“As soon as the product enters the blood, it immediately starts destroying the virus. It is best to inject it at the beginning of the infection because that is when the blood is full of the pathogen; it is harder to treat it after it gets into the tissues. We are increasing the sampling, so we can manufacture stable blood products, preparing for a possible second wave,” the professor told Bors. There will be a need for antibodies, even if the virus stays among us, but on a smaller scale.
Both Italy and Austria have contacted them, asking about their product. The experiences regarding blood plasma therapy are, of course, shared internationally, to find a cure faster.
