You can travel by private trains between Budapest, Prague and Vienna from August

The trains of the Czech private railway company, RegioJet, are going to run between Prague, Vienna and Budapest from August. They will offer high-quality service on board and, even so, they promise that their prices will be lower than the Hungarian Railways’.

Originally, the start of the project was June 15, but the company modified it due to the uncertainties of border crossing – Magyar Nemzet reported. RegioJet is already well-known on the Czech and Slovakian market, but now they will start their service in Hungary, as well. The Czech company told before that they will extend the route of two pair of their trains running between Vienna and Prague to Budapest. WestBahn will operate the trains in Austria while Continental Rail­way Solution will be their Hungarian partner.

RegioJet train attendants will attend the passengers of the trains and provide all board services that are already well-known in Austria and the Czech Republic. The Czech company highlighted that theirs is

the first enterprise that connects the Czech Republic and two capitals outside the country through a private train service. 

Based on their promises, the prices will be low, they will not change before the departure, and everybody will receive discounts. Furthermore, they told that on the trains there are three “comfort classes”: standard, relax and business. Moreover, each passenger gets a seat reservation, tea or coffee and a wide selection of magazines and newspapers. 

However, it is important to know that in Hungary private trains can only circulate in international traffic so everybody will have to buy international tickets. 

RegioJet started to run private trains in the Czech Republic and Slovakia in the mid-2010s. And even though the trains of the Hungarian State Railways runs with 160 km/h in some segments of the Vienna-Budapest course, RegioJet says that their tickets will be cheaper and

they will offer quality board service to everybody.

The international railway traffic market is free to enter in Hungary but the inland one is closed for private companies and it will surely not be opened before 2023.
