Hungarian Red Cross sending emergency responders to help with migrant crisis in Greece
Budapest (MTI) – The Hungarian Red Cross is sending an emergency response unit to Greece to assist the humanitarian efforts of the local Red Cross in managing the migrant crisis.
The Hungarian unit is departing on Friday and will carry out its duties until March 5.
The unit consists of a doctor, a paramedic, a nurse and a logistics specialist, and will be working under the Hellenic Red Cross at a mobile clinic in Thessaloniki, the Hungarian Red Cross told MTI. The mission will be financed from international funds.
The mobile unit will speacilise in providing first aid and treating acute and chronic diseases.
The Hungarian Red Cross set up its emergency response unit last year to help with Hungary’s migrant crisis. The mobile unit will also be ready provide emergency care either at home or abroad in any other future crisis situations, they said.
