Temporary migrant reception facility under construction in W Hungary
Budapest, March 1 (MTI) – The construction of a temporary migrant reception facility started in Körmend, in western Hungary, on Tuesday, the spokesman of the national disaster management authority said.
The temporary camp, to be set up on the area of the local police vocational school, will consists of 56 heated tents with a capacity of five persons each, Márton Hajdú said.
Local mayor István Bebes, of the ruling Fidesz-Christian Democrats, told MTI on Monday that the immigration office had informed him about the planned facility at an extraordinary meeting.
Another temporary facility for 300 migrants is planned to be established in Szentgotthard, next to the Austrian border. The town’s mayor Gábor Huszár said on Monday that a date for setting up the camp was not yet available.
Bebes also said on Monday that the camp would be built as a preparatory measure, considering that Austria had recently decided to set up such facilities.
