Budapest, December 21 (MTI) – Several government measures in education and health-care have strong support among the population, the social research foundation Szazadveg said today.
Measures to help prevent the emigration of doctors were supported by 90 percent of respondents and linking family benefits to school attendance by 74 percent, Szazadveg said in a statement.
The majority of the population, fully 74 percent, agreed with the government’s measures to curb smoking and 63 percent agreed with the introduction of a fat tax on unhealthy foods. Most respondents, 68 percent, were in favour of mandatory religion and ethics classes at schools as well as making students stay in Hungary if they receive a state scholarship, which was supported by 58 percent, the statement said.
The survey was conducted between August and November on an adult sample.
