Ministry withdraws from major Roma programme
Budapest, March 8 (MTI) – The ministry of human resources has said it has withdrawn from a scheme operated by the National Roma Self-Government (ORO) which places people from the Roma community into the workplace, citing its suspicion of legal irregularities.
The ministry said in a statement on Tuesday that several complaints of irregularities had been forthcoming in connection with the HÃd programme. The allegations encompass the ORO’s entire subsidy of 1.6 billion forints (EUR 5.2m), the statement added. As well as investigating the suspected irregularities and launching related procedures, the ministry has decided to rescind the contract with the ORO, it said, adding that subsidies so far drawn down will have to be repaid.
