Jobbik files data request on cbank foundation funds
Budapest (MTI) – The opposition Jobbik party is submitting a request for public data to the central bank on its foundations in order to find out more about their spending, Dániel Z Kárpát, the party’s deputy leader, said on Sunday.
Jobbik would like to know how the estimated 200 billion forints the central bank generated from the forint conversion of foreign currency loans had been spent, Z Kárpát told MTI. Jobbik believes the yields from conversion can be classified as public funds and they should not be channelled through foundations to then be spent on buying state securities, real estate, artwork or plugging holes in the budget.
“The government is spending the money of foreign currency borrowers,” he added. Instead Jobbik urges the government to use the money to set up a fund for helping troubled mortgage holders, Z Kárpát said.
