Hungary condoles over Ankara bomb attack
Budapest, March 14 (MTI) – Prime Minister Viktor Orbán expressed his outrage and grief over Sunday’s terror attack in Ankara to his Turkish counterpart, Ahmet Davutoglu, the prime minister’s press chief told MTI.
In a letter, Orbán conveyed his condolences to the families of the victims of the attack.
“Hungary strongly condemns this vicious attack and is a committed ally to Turkey in the fight against all forms of terrorism,” the prime minister wrote.
Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó also expressed his condolences over the bombing and wished those injured in the attack a speedy recovery. In a statement Szijjártó voiced his shock over the string of terrorist attacks that Turkey has suffered in recent months.
President János Áder expressed his condolences over the attack in a letter sent to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Áder said the tragedy — like the many others Turkey has suffered recently — once again demonstrates the need for international cooperation in the fight against terrorism.
Áder said Hungarians are keeping the “innocent people who fell victim to an evil mass murder” in their thoughts. He reassured Erdogan that Turkey could continue to rely on Hungary’s support in the fight against “senseless and inhuman destruction” and the protection of humanity’s values.
At least 37 people were killed and 71 injured when a car bomb exploded in a transport hub in Ankara on Sunday.
