A Black Lives Matter Statue to be erected in Budapest
Krisztina Baranyi, the mayor of District 9 in Budapest, has published a municipal decision on the evaluation of the open competition ‘Public Art’ for public spaces in Ferencváros (the name of District 9 in Budapest), which includes, among other things, a project called Black Lives Matter.
The news was reported by Telex. The statue will be placed in Ferenc Square between 1 April 2021 and 14 April 2021. As for the work of Péter Szalay, the professional jury wrote:
“A public memorial sculpture paraphrase that still connects to and brings to play current social and political issues: Black Lives Matter, prejudices about society regarding the LGBTQ community. The kneeling gesture of the sculpture also refers to the sculptural decision-making movements in the public space; it also makes us think about the current situation of the work of art. The language, which can be easily decoded from the street even for a simple recipient, meets the requirements of public art with the caption.”
No further information has been revealed about the dimensions and characters of the statue.
The Black Live Matter movement began in the United States against discrimination against black people and police violence against black people. On May 25, a police officer knelt on the neck of a black man, George Floyd, who later died, for 8 minutes 46 seconds. According to surveys, between the end of May and mid-June alone, 15 to 26 million Americans protested for black people’s rights, according to researchers interviewed by The New York Times.
The district of Ferencváros is famous for the football team Ferencváros T.C., which competes in the Champions League in the same group as Juventus and Barcelona.
Krisztina Baranyi, the mayor of Ferencváros, is also trying to find a solution to the parking chaos. Free parking during the pandemic has often brought chaos, mostly in the capital. The majority of mayors are looking for a solution to how the problem could be solved, or at least mitigated, writes Népszava.
Krisztina Baranyi and her assistants indicated with paint in several parking lots in the district that these parking lots were reserved for local residents.
The district leader justified all this by claiming that the situation in Ferencváros has become unbearable since people do not have to pay for parking. She also indicated that the number of these places is limited, so she asks everyone to use the underground garages and parking garages made free of charge for the night.

Excellent initiative.
How many Black people live here in Hungary? I would venture to say less than 5000 if that many. Better Idea is a statute that says ALL LIVES MATTER!. This BLM is just pandering to the leftist once again. Just say NO!
I agree with Anonymous for the full 100%. Overrated and exaggerated, this whole BLM thing. People do no longer seem to realize what is important anymore, spending loads of time and money on things that cannot be changed. Life is what it is… live with it!
ALL LIVES MATTER – erect a statue that captures the Globe – a world map, and place underneath it words to the effect – Global Human Population 2020 – the figure.
Then underneath the words – that hit readers and viewers right between their eyes, bit of a wake up call to unacceptable numbers – ALL LIVES MATTER.
BLM is a marxist initiative used to progress marxism not black rights. Blacks are given preferential treatment in USA schooling system. hardly any lack of rights.
Useless decision… All lives matter. Nowadays lots of people are going bugs on the BLM topic. As for Hungary, it seems to me that BLM doesn’t concern our country at all.
Weird to see the BLM thing also affecting Hungary now. Tell me whatever you want, but this is nothing else than another try of the leftist agenda to tear down Hungarian culture a little more. They’re trying to introduce the same poison which whole Western Europe is suffering from into the country, including deeply divided socities through multiculturalism, gender ideology and abolishing of Christian values and traditions.
A Westerner
BLM is ridiculous. It is based on a lie. More white people are killed by police every year, in America. Twice as many! This is simply leftist tripe. I am disappointed to see that this has now infected Hungary. Are there ANY blacks living in Hungary? Why import another country’s fake problem? Pathetic. I’ll be sure to steer clear of District 9.
What a joke.
BLM is a band of roving lunatics, thieves and literal murderes.
More importantly, they’re on the other side of the globe, this doesn’t concern us in any way.
“Life is what it is… live with it!” — Tell that to the Hungarians who fought to throw off the shackles of the Turks, Austrians, Russians, and Germans.
It is true that all lives matter, but in the USA black Americans have been treated with violence from not just the police, but financial, educational and social systems, not to mention the general population. There is a clear distinction between black and white.
In Hungary, there is clearly a prejudice by many towards anyone who is outside of the Hungarian ‘norm’. Which is strange since the Hungarian population is made of former Asians who have interbred with Slavs, Germans, Turks and a myriad of other peoples for centuries. Hungarians are truly a people of many ethnic groups. And all the better for it. In Hungary, maybe the saying should be All Lives Matter.
Prejudice is everywhere, living with it is lazy at best, and more likely cruel.
BLM has nothing to do with blacks or their lives. It is a political movement that uses blacks for political ends. It is brought to us by those who believe that the ends justifies the means. To that has been added the by any means necessary idea. If BLM, an associate of Antifa, succeeds, then blacks will be discarded like yesterdays fish bones.
This proves that globalists see the world as the battle ground. At least now they reveal their true face and the reasons why people keep supporting Orban.
If this woman were serious the statue would be called “Gypsy lives Matter”.
Black lives mater is a Marxist organization. Their manifesto. which has been amended , on line was frightening. Erection of the statue is one of the stupidest thing for a Hungarian to suggest. Remember, 44 years of so called socialism ruined the country.
