Coronavirus in Hungary: total COVID-19 cases surpass 405,000
Fully 48 Covid patients, generally elderly and suffering from an underlying illness, died over the past 24 hours, while 2,623 new infections were officially registered, bringing the total number of infected to 405,646, koronavirus.gov.hu said on Monday.
The death toll has risen to 14,347, while 308,650 people have made a recovery.
The number of active infections stands at 82,649, while there are 4,489 hospitalised Covid patients, 394 on a ventilator.
Altogether 25,589 people are in official home quarantine, and the number of tests carried out has risen to 3,519,536.
Fully 453,457 people have been vaccinated so far, with 201,005 having received the second jab.
Most infections have been registered in Budapest (75,627) and Pest County (51,135) so far, followed by the counties of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén (23,142), Hajdú-Bihar (22,723) and Győr-Moson-Sopron (22,655). The county least affected by the infection is Tolna (9,081).
Johns Hopkins Univeristy: Global Covid-19 cases top 111.3 million
The US is the worst-hit country with the world’s highest number of cases and deaths at 28,133,627 and 498,879 respectively, according to the University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE).
The total number of global coronavirus cases has topped 111.3 million, while the deaths have surged to more than 2.46 million, according to the Johns Hopkins University.
The current global caseload stood at 111,338,617 and death toll stood at 2,465,846 respectively.
The US is the worst-hit country with the world’s highest number of cases and deaths at 28,133,627. India comes in 2nd place in terms of cases at 10,991,651, while Brazil confirmed 10,168,174 cases. The most infected countries: the UK (4,127,574), Russia (4,117,992), France (3,597,540), Spain (3,133,122) and Italy (2,809,246).
