North Hungary criminals forge large amount of dollar, hrivnya notes
Budapest, April 26 (MTI) – The prosecutor of northern Hungary’s Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplen county has raised charges against two men in Miskolc, who are suspected of having forged US dollars and Ukrainian hrivnyas worth a total 160 million forints (EUR 512,000).
The suspects, aged 54 and 60, produced the fake banknotes using machinery at a press where the younger one worked. The two could even convince the unsuspecting manager of the press to purchase a new, digital printing machine through promises of a large order, which they then used for their own purpose.
The police cracked down on the forgers in July last year, after some of the fakes turned up in circulation.
