Hadik Café
A piece of literary history in the 11th district: this was where renowned writers Frigyes Karinthy, Dezső Kosztolányi, and Zsigmond Móricz regularly met in the 1910s. Reopened in 2010, the café’s appeal has not changed since then, only its menu: nowadays, in addition to a variety of drinks, they also offer a selection of mostly traditional Hungarian meals, including, of course, some goulash.

Zsiráf
Sometimes, all you need is a bit of a break and some beer. If you feel the same, Zsiráf has got you covered. Just a stone’s throw away from the bustling Nyugati Railway Station, Zsiráf is a bit like a hidden oasis where you can grab a drink and kick back comfortably. The terrace is adorned with fairy lights; therefore, at night, it looks like a place straight out of a romantic movie.

Esetleg Bar & Bistro
If you would like to enjoy the view as much as your food or drinks, Esetleg is the place to go. Located in southern Pest, right by the Danube, you can take in the sight of the Gellért Hill and Liberty Bridge as you munch or sip on whatever you choose from the menu, which seems to have something for everyone, from meat and fish lovers to vegetarians.

Jardinette
If you have a love for nature and a family to feed (or just feel hungry yourself), you might want to head to Jardinette. This restaurant caters to all tastes and diets, offering a number of vegan, gluten- and lactose-free dishes served underneath beautiful leafy trees in the hills of Buda. It is clearly deserving of its name which means “little garden”.

Szimply
Szimply might not boast of a particularly large or stylish terrace, but if you are looking for delicious and Instagram-worthy breakfast dishes, you definitely should not miss it. Hidden in an alley just off Károly körút, they offer colourful and healthy options for the most important meal of the day. Their menu is ever-changing, so you will have to head over there and see for yourself.

Bereg Embassy Bar & Café
If you are thirsty for a drink and yearning for some quiet, Bereg will give you just that. A short walk away from Széll Kálmán Square, this “hidden garden” prides itself on its selection of craft beers and delicious burgers. The greenery and the lanterns certainly give this place an enchanting atmosphere.
