Foreign minister: Hungary, Turkey working to boost economic cooperation
Budapest, May 5 (MTI) – Turkey continues to be in the focus of Hungarian foreign and trade policy, and Hungary sees the country as a key partner both for itself and the European Union, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said after a meeting of the Hungarian-Turkish mixed economic committee in Budapest on Thursday.
The mixed committee is a good framework for handling political challenges in parallel with providing the possibility for bilateral economic cooperation to thrive, Szijjártó told a press conference.
The reason for calling a session of the committee was to prevent European crises from having a negative impact on bilateral economic cooperation, the minister said.
Hungary stands by Turkey in its fight against terrorism, he added.
