Fidesz calls on Karácsony to investigate Danube boat procurement tender
Hungary’s ruling Fidesz has called on Budapest Mayor Gergely Karácsony to order an investigation into the public procurement process of the Budapest transport company’s Danube boat service.
Zsolt Wintermantel, the Fidesz-delegated member in Budapest’s transport authority BKK, said in a Facebook video on Tuesday that the public procurement tender for an operator of the Danube boat service “raises suspicions similar to the ones around” transport company BKV’s bus leasing arrangements.
“Of course, BKV and the mayor are denying everything and saying the same things they said six months ago regarding the bus tender: that there’s ‘nothing to see here’,” Wintermantel said.
He called on Karácsony to order a comprehensive investigation into the tender and to prohibit BKV from signing any agreements until the investigation was concluded.

Quite pathetic, the goings on in relation to the operation of the Danube – Public Riverboat Service.
On paper it all looks quite elementary – but politics becomes heavily involved and we see yet another “stand off” or accusations being made that just throws the entire process into CHAOS.
The present Government – Fidesz – should have – times since February 2020 we have lived – picked the entire cost of this fiasco and seen to the operation of another (2) two ferry’s – on “shortened” the Public runs.
The opening of Hungary – the “slight” numbers of tourist increase, permission of River Ships to visit Budapest and the weather, the citizens have been the big losers in the decision not to operated Danube Public Ferry services this summer.
Why for citizens and tourist the operation of (2) two other ferries doing “shortened” trips on the Danube – especially at week-ends could never have got introduced, does annoy me.
“Think outside the square” – Clarke Adams/Chain Bridge closed – could a Public Ferry have assisted the public if run in this vicinity of the Danube and down town Budapest ?
The Ferry’s of Budapest – are part of our History and have “survived” through the trials and tribulations Budapest, Hungary have been faced with.
Get this political motivated mess cleaned up – for the image of Budapest – citizens and tourist.
Exactly who / what is “Caritas” ?
Previous statements made by this commentator suggest that the individual(s) concerned is / are NOT (a) Hungarian citizen(s) – yet alone (a) Hungarian voter(s) – which begs the question :
“What gives ‘Caritas’ the RIGHT to make ANY comments on behalf of Hungary or its ‘people’ ?”
IMMEDIATE CLARIFICATION in regards to the above from this commentator is recommended.
