Hungary’s traditional cake and the country’s Sugar-free cake of 2021 are finally revealed.
Hungary’s most delicious cake is chosen every year to celebrate the country’s symbolic birthday, the Foundation of the Hungarian State, on August 20. This year, the competition celebrates a jubilee, its 15th edition, writes 24.hu.

The Association of Hungarian Confectionery Manufacturers looks for the best among the best. For those
cakes that are popular among Hungarians, complemented with fresh, natural, and healthy fruits, and excellent quality ingredients.
This year,
the title of Hungary’s cake goes to Budapest confectioner Sándor Fodor from Habcsók Confectionery.
Although his creation is called “Sunflower”, inspired by the sunflower fields blooming in summer, his cake is a real delicacy for all seasons. The freshness of the pear and the sourness of the honey-infused fresh yoghurt make the perfect dessert in the heat. The decadent taste of the sunflower seeds and the caramelised chocolate give that cosy feeling we need in winter.

The base is a chocolate-infused, crunchy, toasted sunflower seed layer made without wheat flour. It gives the base to several different layers of creams flavoured with sunflower seeds, chocolate, pear, honey, and finally, Williams pear palinka.
The second place goes to the team of Nándori Confectionery for their cake called “Autumn rise of the day”.

The third on the podium is Pál Lakatos from Levendula és Kert Confectionery from Szigetszentmiklós with his creation called “Szabacsi rubato”.
