Sports association practically made vaccination obligatory!
The Hungarian Basketball Federation (MKOSZ) decided that children above 12 can only play in the championships if they bring a negative COVID test before the matches or have a valid immunity certificate.
According to telex.hu, MKOSZ published the relevant statement yesterday evening. It writes that in the case of kids below 12, they will organise the matches behind closed doors. Meanwhile, children above 12, who would like to play in the tournaments starting from the autumn,
have to bring a negative antigen test not older than 48 hours or a negative PCR test done before a maximum of 72 hours before the matches.
Those who have been inoculated and have a valid immunity certificate are not required to show test results, blikk.hu wrote.
Based on the statement, MKOSZ aims to protect their players and the safe organisation of the matches for the different age group tournaments. “Many virologist professionals said that a new wave of the coronavirus would hit Hungary. That is because of a variant much more infectious than the ones before. Furthermore,
based on present experiences, it causes illnesses in non-inoculated and young people,“
they wrote.
Therefore, they encourage everybody to accept the jab. As we reported before, children above 12 will have the opportunity to be inoculated between August 31 and September 2.
Hungarians travel to Romania for the Pfizer vaccine?
One of the basketball coaches talking to Telex said that he could not understand the measure. He stated that MKOSZ should not influence parents’ decision of whether they want to inoculate their children or not. He added that
it is unrealistic
to let inoculated and non-inoculated players train together on weekdays and prescribe tests and jabs for them at the weekend.
There is a problem with the deadlines, too. In the case of many schools, parents had to choose whether they accept the vaccine or not until August 11. The basketball association’s decision means that those who refused to allow the vaccination of their children playing basketball will now have to do some
extra administration if they want their kids to continue their sports careers.
In Hungary, 12-15-year-old kids could register for the vaccine from June 10, but the number of those inoculated in their age group is still low.
