Budapest Christmas trip for less than 30 euros? – Here is how

Although the Omicron variant of the coronavirus is making life difficult for travellers, Budapest is still a very popular tourist destination.

In recent years, the city has moved away (perhaps in part due to the virus) from being solely associated with summer party tourism and now attracts tourists during the winter months as well, with Christmas fairs, hot spring thermal baths, and gastronomic experiences.

With such friendly prices, it is difficult to resist a trip to Budapest. The only entry rule at the moment is to be vaccinated. The good news for travellers is that there is no sign of that changing in the following few weeks.

What to do in Hungary beyond Budapest?

It is not only Budapest that attracts foreigners, there are plenty of other cities, wine regions, villages, and landscapes to visit, even when visiting only for a short time.

The most popular day trip out of Budapest is mostly Szentendre. The small town located only a few kilometres north of the Hungarian capital is part of the Unesco World Heritage program.

The narrow streets, craft shops, and gastronomic possibilities usually keep visitors entertained for the whole afternoon.
