Budapest Christmas trip for less than 30 euros? – Here is how

Although the Omicron variant of the coronavirus is making life difficult for travellers, Budapest is still a very popular tourist destination.

In recent years, the city has moved away (perhaps in part due to the virus) from being solely associated with summer party tourism and now attracts tourists during the winter months as well, with Christmas fairs, hot spring thermal baths, and gastronomic experiences.

The Budapest Christmas Fair attracts almost 800 thousand visitors a year, says Utazómajom.hu.

While the number of visitors with cars from the region has increased significantly, the number one form of travel is still with planes, arriving at Liszt Ferenc Budapest International Airport.

Flying to Budapest in December

Since the introduction of the European Green Pass on the 1st of July, travelling has been centrally regulated and became available to EU citizens, allowing discount airlines to restart most of their flights. 

Currently, with Irish airline Ryanair alone, we can find 48 destinations from where you can fly to Budapest in December 2021 for less than 30 euros.
