Memorial Plaque To Murdered Romanian handball Player Inaugurated In Veszprem
Budapest, February 17 (MTI) – A memorial plaque to Romanian handball player Marian Cozma was inaugurated today in the western Hungarian town of Veszprem where he was stabbed to death five years ago.
Deputy Prime Minister Tibor Navracsics, a Veszprem native, said Cozma was much loved for his talent and also for his character. His senseless death cut short a promising career, he added.
The bronze plaque has been placed on the pavement outside the nightclub where Cozma and his team-mates for MKB Veszprem had spent the evening before they were attacked.
Two members of the gang that attacked him were sentenced to 18 years in prison while the third perpetrator got a prison term of 8 years.
