Tragedy! Hungarian world champion died in accident caused by drugged driver
Ibolya Tamási, a Hungarian judo world champion died in a car accident caused by a drugged driver near Csomád. Not only was she a member of the Budapest Spartacus and UTE, but she was also a Hungarian 11-time champion. Furthermore, she won gold in the 2010 Judo World Masters held in South Korea.
Two cars collided frontally near Csomád last Sunday while one of them tried to overtake. The accident demanded one casualty, a 58-year-old woman. Later it became clear that she was the former Hungarian judo champion, Ibolya Tamási, living in a nearby town, Mogyoród.
The driver doing the irregular overtake suffered light, while a 61-year-old man from Budapest severe injuries – szeretlekmagyarorszag.hu reported.
The police headquarters of Pest county highlighted on Monday that the 20-year-old driver, whose overtake caused the frontal collision, behaved strangely. Therefore, they did a double sampling.
The result showed a significant amount of THC in the driver’s body. THC is the active agent of marijuana.

In the driver’s apartment in Őrbottyán, police found 11 grams of suspicious plants, two small mills and a digital scale. Since the blood analysis clearly proved that the driver was on drugs, they initiated his pre-trial detention and took him into custody.
The Hungarian Judo Association reported on Monday that the innocent driver of the other car was Ibolya Tamási. They added that Mrs Tamási was one of the greatest of the Hungarian judo sport.
She was an 11-time Hungarian champion and won the IJF Masters world championship in 2010, rtl.hu said. They said on their website that Tamási is mourned by her family, but they shared no further details about her funeral.
