Hungarians most prefer Austria and UK
(MTI) – Hungarians prefer western European nations to central and eastern European countries, with Austria topping the popularity list, a recent Psyma Hungary survey sent to MTI on Monday showed.
The survey was conducted on a 1,000-member representative sample last November.
Asked about their approach to 18 countries, respondents gave a positive assessment of the western European nations. The highest proportion – 93 percent – said they liked Austria. Britain came in second with 91 percent while Germany and Switzerland tied for third place with 90 percent.
In central and eastern Europe, Croatia (82 percent) and Poland (77 percent) proved to be the most popular among Hungarians while Romania, Serbia and Ukraine were placed bottom (with 42, 38 and 36 percent, respectively).
The United States (76 percent) trailed the west European nations but surpassed Russia (51 percent) and China (46 percent).
