Wizz Air to launch several new routes from three cities
Hungarian low-cost airline, Wizz Air, is continuously expanding in the number of destinations and flights. Here are their latest relevant announcements.
Bucharest, Romania
Wizz Air announced that it will continue the expansion of its operations in Romania, adding a new aircraft to its base in Bucharest. The new Airbus A321neo aircraft will join the fleet in July 2022, increasing the number of aircraft from Bucharest to 12. To mark this milestone, the airline also announced the introduction of two new routes from Bucharest to Preveza-Aktion, Greece, and Rimini, Italy. Together with the new routes, Wizz Air now offers 56 low fare services from Henri Coandă International Airport. Tickets are already available online on wizzair.com and through the mobile app from as low as 99 RON.
With the 12 aircraft at the base and its new routes adding up to the Romanian network, Wizz Air is the largest airline operating from Bucharest, restating its commitment to offering popular destinations and ultra-low fares to as many passengers as possible, in the most sustainable way.
Romanians can now travel from Bucharest to Preveza-Aktion, Greece, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, starting July 6, 2022. Located at the mouth of the Ambracian Gulf, the city of Preveza is a perfect destination for family vacations in a sunny destination, full of ancient history. Additionally, another flight will depart from Bucharest to Rimini, Italy, every Thursday and Sunday, starting September 29. Rimini is a popular holiday destination in Europe with a history just as captivating and lively beaches overlooking the Adriatic Sea.
Wizz Air continues to expand its operations throughout the network, as the industry returns to its pre-pandemic capacity. With routes that will take passengers all over Europe, Romanians will be able to travel through these new low-fare Wizz Air services to two of Europe’s most exciting summer destinations and many others. The announcement of the new allotted aircraft and the two new destinations comes the same week Wizz Air announced its 2022-2023 winter schedule, with other two services becoming available again from October and November 2022 – Bucharest – Gran Canaria and Bucharest – Aqaba respectively.
Tirana, Albania
Wizz Air announced the allocation of its ninth aircraft to Tirana base. The new Airbus A321ceo will join the fleet, enabling the start of 3 new routes from Tirana to Lyon in France, Nuremberg in Germany, Warsaw in Poland .The new low fare routes are already on sale on www.wizzair.com and via WIZZ mobile app with fares starting as low as EUR 19.99.
Wizz Air started operations in Albania in April 2017 and has carried over 2.2 million passengers during almost 5 years of successful operations.
With the current announcement by this summer the airline will have a fleet of nine modern, state of the art young aircraft at its Tirana base.

Kolozsvár (Cluj Napoca), Romania
Wizz Air announced that it will add a new aircraft to its base in Cluj-Napoca. The new Airbus A321ceo aircraft will join the fleet from the beginning of August, increasing the airline’s number of aircraft in Cluj-Napoca to seven and further expanding its operations.
The new aircraft allows the launch of three new routes from Cluj-Napoca to Corfu, Greece, and Naples and Turin, Italy, and increased frequencies for 10 other routes.
These recent additions to the flight schedule allows Wizz Air to offer ultra-low fare services from Cluj International Airport. Tickets are already available online on wizzair.com and through the mobile app from as low as 99 RON.
Romanian passengers can now travel from Cluj-Napoca to the island of Corfu every Tuesday and Saturday, with the first flight departing on August 2. Additionally, the other two routes from Cluj-Napoca to Naples and Turin will operate on Wednesdays and Sundays, both starting from August 3.

In addition to these new markets, Wizz Air also announces the Cluj-Napoca – Paris-Beauvais service will increase with three more flights, to 9 flights per week.
The routes to Barcelona and Brussels-Charleroi will both increase with two additional flights, to 7 flights per week. The routes to Málaga, Madrid, Tel-Aviv, Doncaster-Sheffield, Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg, Memmingen and Chania will all increase by one flight per week. With these new and existing routes, Cluj-Napoca residents and the nearby population will be able to travel conveniently to the most exciting destinations in Europe.
