Perfect Getaways – Andrassy Castle in Tiszadob
Hungarian aristocratic family, Andrassy, has been known for its lavish lifestyle. Andrassy castle, which is located on the boarder of two counties, Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén and Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg, along the Tisza River, is of an exceptional beauty.
This castle was built in a classicist style and attracts a lot of visitors from all over the world. The allure of the place is indescribable; serenity and beauty of the landscape guarantees moments of pure joy to all the visitors. For that reason, Hungarian government with the help from Slovakian officials has launched an international program promoting cultural integration and mixing tourist experiences.
As a result, five of the castles that used to belong to Andrassy dynasty, also known as Andrássy de CsÃkszentkirály et Krasznahorka, have been included into the Hungary-Slovakia across boarder program. This cooperation of the two governments was established to develop cultural tourism between both countries. The idea to introduce all the remarkable historical monuments located both in Hungary and Slovakia has emerged after months of serious debating. The route has been carefully planned, as founders want to make this route a part of the UNESCO World Heritage and get support from European Council. Interreg program advocates transnational cooperation and includes possible partnership with other countries, members of EU.
Hungarian castles Andrassy Kastely and Monok are included into the official route, however it is possible that more of fascinating castles will become part of the program. In the long term, the plan is to mix contemporary urban edginess with timeless classic beauty of the rural landscapes, to show the loop of cultures. This project strives to achieve an honorable title of European Cultural Rout.
