5 unmissable destinations in Hungary for this summer! – PHOTOS
During the hot summer months, there is nothing better than enjoying the bright sunshine, exploring breathtaking treasures and refreshing ourselves in the natural waters. Where else to do all this if not in the beautiful Hungary? Come along and discover 5 unmissable destinations for this summer!
Lake Balaton
Being the largest lake in Central Europe, Lake Balaton is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Hungary. The Hungarian Sea provides a breathtaking panorama for its visitors on both sides of the lake. In addition, the northern shoreland involves six landscape protection areas within the territory of the Balaton Uplands National Park. One the most important attractions of the region is the Tihany Peninsula which is the first protected landscape area of Hungary, famous for its geology as well as flora and fauna.
We should not miss the Tapolca Basin either which was described as the most beautiful landscape of Hungary by several poets, novelists and painters. In addition, we must mention Szentgyörgy and Csobánc Hills where active tourists can enjoy wine cellars, hiking trails, and adventurous bike paths while enjoying the wonderful panorama of the region. After discovering the breathtaking views, it is worth getting down to the beach of Lake Balaton and refresh ourselves in the Hungarian Sea.
Lake Velence
Due to the sunshine and its shallow depth of 1.5 m on average, Lake Velence is one of the warmest lakes in Europe, with water temperatures reaching 26-28 °C. Therefore, it is not surprising that similarly to Lake Balaton, it is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Hungary.
In addition to the charming villages around the lake, Lake Velence is rich in minerals (sodium and magnesium) and its excellent waters are refreshing and regenerating for the exhausted body. In addition to bathing, it can also be used to relieve rheumatic pains, as reported by Wikipedia.
Lake Tisza
The fourth largest lake of Hungary, Lake Tisza, also awaits its visitors with several exciting programs and natural treasures. Do not miss the chance to observe the special flora and fauna of the area and get amazed by the wooden water promenade of Lake Tisza.
Thanks to the flourishing rural tourism in the region, campsites, hotels and beaches have been built around the lake. As Wikipedia reports, there are six open beaches along the shore and thermal baths in Tiszafüred. A wide range of water sports, including motorised water sports, can be practised around Abádszalók. The region of Lake Tisza can be explored on foot, by bicycle, on horseback or by boat. The impressive experience is guaranteed.
Danube Bend
The Danube Bend is one of Hungary’s most important tourist areas, including the settlements along the Danube on both sides between Esztergom and Visegrád. Latter is also on the World Heritage Candidate List, combining the sites of the medieval royal centre of Visegrád and the Esztergom Castle.
For the lovers of romance, the Danube Bend is an unmissable destination. The fairytale streets of Szentendre, the forests of Zebegény, the botanical garden of Vácrátót, and the Visegrád Trout Lakes are all amazing sights that are worth a visit. The region provides several ideal picnic spots and designated bathing areas for visitors.
Délegyháza Lakes
The largest lake system in Pest county is the Délegyháza lakes, 27 km from Budapest. The system of 8 central lakes, with a total surface area of more than 300 hectares, is ideal for swimming, fishing, recreation and water sports (surfing, water-skiing, water-slide).
In addition to naturist and bathing suit beaches, in the area, there is a quad centre, riding stables, gym, billiard room and restaurants. Délegyháza’s attractions include the 400-year-old wild pear tree on its coat of arms, the Roman Catholic and Reformed churches. The largest beach in the area is the Nomád Beach. The clean beach offers sun and shade, stalls, restaurants and a buffet. The uninhabited islands opposite the beach can be reached by boat or even by swimming, reports Délegyházi tavak.
